Almay Oil-free Makeup Removing Face Wipes

On the hunt for cheaper makeup remover. Saw these Almay one and thought it would be nice because it said oil-free and I have oily skin now so I figured it would be nice

IMG_4301
They come in a little bag with 25 in them like this. The seal is way better than the Olay one's which kept opening on me so the wipes were always moist and never dried out

IMG_4302
The wipes are a good size, with regards to scent I wasn't the biggest fan of it but its okay

IMG_4303
Def one thing I noticed was it got the makeup off better than the Olay ones I had. I wasn't sitting there rubbing my eyes off and the wipes didn't sting my eyes either. I did notice my skin was a little sticky afterwards and not sure why?? Also bc they were oil-free I thought they would help not increase my oily production but I did notice a increase in oil around my nose area and forehead. But I am not 100% sure if its because of the wipes itself or due to the fact that I am in a new state and whether its climate changes. So I can't say for sure whether I like them or not!!

Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm

When I first the display for the new Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm I thought I have to have them all! The colors looked so beautiful with amazing pigmentation. What in intrigued me the most was the fact that it was a liquid lip balm. Now I don't know about you but I had to see what the texture was and how it differed from other lip balms and etc. The collection consists of 10 different shades of various purples, pinks, corals and nudes and since they only had 8 at my local store I went ahead and got them all.

IMG_4036
The colors I got were: Just Plum, Apple-a-day, Pink, Apricot, Cantaloupe, blooming, rosy lipped, and nudetrients.

Don't the colors look amazing??

IMG_4039
The first thing I had to examine is the texture. The wand looks like your everyday lip gloss one. The texture is a thick, when I touch it with my finger its a little on the sticky side so if your accidently touch it you def will have to wash your hands after. I like the feeling it has on my lips but def don't like the stickiness of it. And to me they felt like lip gloss I really didn't understand how they were considered liquid lip balm??

So how does the pigmentation look??

I picked 3 of the colors to try out

IMG_4061
The first color I chose was Pink. This color looks very pink and let me tell you it looks nothing like it does in that tube. If you look at my swatch it really only added a hint of pink on my lips and instead just looked like a clear gloss on.

IMG_4065
So I grabbed apricot since it was a deep color on the bottle and thought it def will show up on me. Again it adds a hint of color on my lips but I was expecting amazing bright color but you can still see my natural lip pigmentation on my lips.

IMG_4071
The last one I tried was the nudetriments one because it was the lightest one and thought this one will def show on my lips which are darker. Again, you can only see a slight pigmentation which def doesn't represent the color it appears on the bottle.

I also tried the Apple-a-day and Just plum but forgot to take pictures of those two and those being darker colors also showed little pigmentation. I am not sure if its because my lips are dark or what not but I think the pigmentation could be a lot better! Also another thing I want to add is they didn't last long either so I had to constantly re-apply the balm. Overall, I would have to pass on the Almay color + Care Liquid lip balm. If they had better pigmentation, better longeivity, and a more lip balm kind of texture. I honestly thought I was wearing lip gloss when I applied it. Bummed bc they were almost $6 each and I probably won't use them again.

What did you think of the Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm??

Almay CC Cream

We've all heard and tried BB cream  but I keep hearing about the the newest kind, CC Cream. Here is my review on the very first CC cream I just recently tried which happens to also be a very popular drug store brand, Almay.

IMG_3979
Almay's Smart Shade CC cream is a foundation and concealer aimed at covering imperfections and correcting discoloration.

So how well is this concealer??

Let's see!!

IMG_3980
There are 3 shades in this collection: Light, Light/medium and medium. I chose to go with medium. As you can see in my swatch of the CC cream before I blend it is a not thick creamy not watery but a texture of the two. Although this is the darkest shade it still looks very light on my skin tone so it would be really hard to work with on people who are darker than me

IMG_3982
Upon blending the CC cream you can see first off that it lightens the skin as compared to my left side of my hand that has my natural skin tone. Another thing you can note is the fact that it doesn't moisturize my skin very much. Finally, although it looks like it conceals very well here. I def noticed it doesn't conceal imperfections such as scarring from old acne spots at all.

So.. overall, if your looking for a lightweight- not heavy coverage then this CC cream would be good for you. But if your looking for a lot of coverage to cover discoloration or what not then I would probably pass on this product. I have little areas I want to cover but I prob would not buy this after I am done with my bottle. It is def not the worst but at the same time it is def not the best. In my opinion it is simply okay.

Almay Smart Shade Bronzer

I have been on the hunt for really good bronzer since summer is here!! Last week I tried the Fergie one from WnW and loved it and saw the new Almay Smart shade one the other day and had to give it a try

IMG_3987
I chose #40 Sunkissed because it was the darkest of the other colors and so I thought it would look better with my skin tone.

IMG_3988
Containing 3 different shades on the bronzer- a dark, medium brown and light color used for highlighting the combination of all 3 should give you a perfect bronzing look for all skin tones.

IMG_4035
I wanted to see how the product looked on my inner arm which is lighter than my face and I will know how it will look on me. As you can see from my swatch you barely see the bronzer on me.

On my face- you can't even tell I have anything on. Okay it does but its very very light and you can see the glitter shimmer more than anything. Personally, I liked the WnW pigmentation way more than this. It looked more golden and really brought out my cheekbones. So sad, I really wanted to like this but unfortunately I am going to have to say Fail in my book. It probably will show up better on lighter skin but for some reason it doesn't show up on me. Plus the Fergie one is like 4 dollars cheaper and is bigger. But this is my personal opinion so its all up to you =)

Beauty Product Showdown-Makeup Remover

Since I was out of town last Thursday I wasn't able to do a Beauty Product Showdown piece. But I am back and today I decided to do a theme I haven't done before, Makeup Remover. I used to use Macs Makeup removing wipes but geez there expensive on a college student budget so I decided to see which drug store make-up is better at removing my eye makeup in particular-I usually wear mascara and bottom eyeliner.

So let's see who is battling in this weeks Beauty Product Showdown!

IMG_3039
We have Clean & Clear Facial Cleansing Wipes (~$7.99)

IMG_3043
vs. Almay's Oil-free makeup remover pads. (15 ct-$1.14)
IMG_3192
The Clean & Clear wipes are pretty big! Like the size of a baby wipe.
IMG_3193
I swiped the wipe across my eye twice in two areas to see how it removed my eye makeup plus over my upper lip. As you can see it took off a lot of my makeup. The wipe has a nice light smell to it and doesn't leave your eyelid oily or sticky at all. Honestly I use half the wipe on my eye and the other half removes all my face makeup.
 IMG_3189
The almay pad is really small. Like you have to use one side for one eye and the other for the other eye

IMG_3191
Just like the Clean & Clear wipe I did two swipes on one eye and removed my lipstick on my bottom lip. Although this is oil-free I did notice my eyelids were really sticky and shiny after I used this pad. It also has a nice light smell to it though.

IMG_3198
Here are my eyes after two swipes of each wipe. The left side was used with the Almay wipe. As you can see there is still mascara on my upper lid and it smeared some of the liner to my lower eyelid. On the otherhand, the Clean & Clear wipe took alot more of the mascara off and my bottom eye lid looks better than the one I used with Almay.

Overall. if it came down to it and Almay vs Clean & Clear went into the ring for a beauty product showdown Clean & Clear would win hands down! Not only did they remove makeup better but they didn't leave my eyelids sticky and weird after! For all you college students I suggest to just stock up when the drug stores have the B1g1 50% off sale to score good deals on them! Till then I am def sticking with Clean & Clear
