Studio Gear Cosmetics

I have always wanted to try some products from Studio Gear Cosmetics. So when I was got the opportunity to review some of the most popularist products of theirs I jumped on it quick.

Today I will be reviewing an eyeshadow, face primer and mascara!

IMG_3286
The first product is a 3:1 Harmonic Eyeshadow Palette
IMG_3290
Containing a contour, highlight and accent color this 3:1 shadow has colors that when combined will give your a perfect look

IMG_3295
There is a darker brown for the crease, lighter brown for the base lid and a lighter brown/beige for the under eyebrow area

IMG_3291
The second product I tried was the SPF-20 face primer. This light non greasy primer works to balance and protect the skin from environmental stress while helping to diminish fine lines and wrinkles

IMG_3292
The last product I tried was the Impact Full Pro LTS mascara

IMG_3294
The brush looked nice and fluffy!

IMG_3340
I am so sorry that tiny part of my bangs came out but what can you so. to the left contains the Impact full mascara that was simply applied (did NOT curl lashes prior or after application) and my normal lashes. I do have long lashes but they are normally flat and lets just say I need a good volumizing mascara to get the job done.

IMG_3348
Here is after application of the mascara on both eyelashes.

IMG_3347
Here is my overall look using the 3:1 shadow with the lighter beige underneath the eyebrows, the medium brown on the base and the darker brown on the crease. When used with a primer the shadows lasted well.

Overall, if I had to pick my favorite product it would be the mascara hands down! I didn't think I would get much length let alone volume but my lashes look amazing! The applicator puts mascara on great with little/no clumps! My second favorite was the eyeshadows. I liked how well they go together to create my look and they are pretty pigmented. Well I thought the face primer was good for SPF coverage I am not sure about the diminishing of fine line and wrinkles as I have neither yet so I really can't conclude on if it worked. But I did not break out or anything when using it.

Essence Cosmetics

Before I moved to Texas I only shopped at Sephora and never set foot in an Ulta store. My Ulta in CA stunk really bad, I thought they only carried drug store beauty products that I could get at any retailer like Target. But when I moved to Texas that was the closest beauty store to me and I really grew to like and appreciate the brands it offered that I didn't see at Sephora. One of these is the Essence, a extremely affordable German based Cosmetic Company. Today I have to share with you products in the Winter 2012 Collection.

IMG_2780
The first product I tried was the XXXL Shine lip gloss in Big Night Out ($2.49)

IMG_2790
Doesn't this swatch show how shiny this gloss is? It is a nude color with lots of shimmer to it.

IMG_2797
The color is very natural on and makes lips extremely sparkly. I am not a big fan of glitter but it is not as bad as other ones are. The texture is not goopy but a good consistency.

IMG_2782
The next thing I got to try was the Liquid eyeliner ($3.29) in black.

IMG_2784
I am def not good at applying liquid liner with the little brush applicator so I was so happy to see this thicker brush for the liner. It made applying the liner soooooo much easier and I recommend this type of liner for beginners bc you can get a pretty uniform line as opposed to using the thinner brush like applicator.

IMG_2785
Pigment of the liner is pretty good and it isn't streaky or anything. Liner lasted my entire work day and when I was going to bed I noticed it started coming off on the inner top eyelid but most of them do anyways.

IMG_2786
The final product I got to try was I love stage Eyeshadow base. Now I know most of you like myself love your Potion primer but for a college student that can be quite expensive. So you know I was excited to give this more affordable one.

IMG_2787
It has the same brush applicator like the eye liner so it is very easy to apply the product onto your eyelids.

IMG_2788
The base is a nude color and stays nude when you rub it in. Swatches of the Base alone, with a nude shadow and finally with the shadow alone. Didn't pick a really good color to show but the base does allow the shadow to be a little more pigmented.
IMG_2885
When applied to my shadow it helps your shadow last all day long (UD Brown from Theodora Palette) Not bad right?

Overall, these products are def not bad. And for the amazing price that they are you can beat it? I def suggest for those of you who are on a tight budget to check out some of the products Essence has to offer! I am impressed and can't wait to head on over to Ulta to try some more of there products!

Beauty Product Showdown- Urban Decay Primer-Original vs.Greed

I love Urban Decay primer. I won't wear any eyeshadow without it but when I saw a couple diff types of colors I thought it would be great to do a comparison to see whats the big difference between them-color? longevity? what it gives to look?

What a great day to start the beauty product showdown then a match between Urban Decay Greed vs. the Original Primer potion.

Here is a screen shot of the two bottles so you know exactly which one's I am talking about.

DSC_2840
I grabbed a custom palette I created with some old Mac/Coastal Scent colors. Sorry I don't know there names anymore. I wanted to do a variety of different colors to see what each primer gave to overall look with diff color shadows.

First thing I did was a swatch of the primer itself. To the left is the Original primer that turns nude upon drying. To the right is Greed which you can see right away gives a frosty/shimmery/gold look.

All swatches will be left (original primer) and right (Greed primer)

DSC_2825
The first color I tried with each primer is a smokey black color that normally has a hint of silver glitter to it. As you can see on the left you can see what the shadow looks like with a nude primer. When used with Greed you can see it adds a gold shimmery look to the shadow but at the same time the black isn't as pigmented as it originally is. I know this is a Mac shadow.

DSC_2841
Next I took a shimmery grey color. when used with the original primer you see the matte color however, when used with Greed you see this really nice Grey/gold color. Looks pretty good! This was a mac shadow.

DSC_2838
Next I grabbed a matte purple color that is brought out more with the Greed primer. Love the gold shimmery it adds! This shadow is one from Coastal Scents.

DSC_2835
A bright pink color looks great with the original primer and I didn't see too much of a difference in the Greed primer except the hint of shimmer. This shadow is a Coastal scents one.

DSC_2821
Def had to see what a brown looked like since both of these primers are a type of brown color. This is def a Mac shadow and I believe its called Amber lights. With the original primer we see a metallic brown color but when Greed is used you see it more of a gorgeous golden brown. It looked really well. (not in the palette pictured)

DSC_2823
Finally I took a green metallic color from Mac. With the original primer you can see how metallic it looks and when used with Greed you can see a hint of gold to it but not too much of a difference.

Overall, I think Greed is a perfect primer for eyeshadows you want to add a golden shimmery too like golden brown, matte purple or grey as it brought out the colors more. I would suggest testing out the shadow with your primer to see if that's the look your going for. I thought there wasn't going to be too much of a difference between the two but there def is! As far as longevity the two are the same. The difference is what it adds to your shadow. If you want to keep your shadow true to the color use the original primer but if you want to add a gold shimmer to it use Greed!

In the end, I am going to have to vote this as a TIE as it depends on the color you use!
