Beauty Product Showdown Blushes Stila vs. Stila

Good evening all! Guess what time it is? Beauty Product Showdown

Presentation1
Today's theme is blushes and I decided to mix it up this time and look at two types of blushes from the same company to see which one is better a cream or powder blush?

You guys ready to rumblllleeeeee?

This weeks contender in the red trunks is Stila Convertible Color in Poppy
The defender in the black trunks is Stila Custom color blush in coral

The convertible color is a cream based blush in poppy.

IMG_1706
It comes off really smoothly and is a darker pink almost red color. When applied to the cheek I noticed it concentrates really heavily on the area you first apply it to. With that you don't really get a uniform layer of blush on cheeks. I also tried using a brush to help me but found the same results. This blush does wear long!

IMG_2138
The stila custom color in coral is a shimmery powder blush

IMG_2140
It is a peachy coral color with a hint of shimmer to it. Like Poppy, Coral comes out really smoothly and has great pigmentation to it. When used with a blush brush you can achieve a uniform layer across the entire cheek bone. I am not a big fan of shimmery so I can appreciate that it is no overwhelmingly glittery! The blush does last all day.

When taking into account the pigmentation, easy application, longevity, and ability to get a uniform layer of blush on your cheeks.

The winner of the beauty product showdown blushes...

Stila custom color powder blush in Coral!! I want a blush that will be applied evenly with less work! One with good pigmentation and hands down this one will do the job!

Beauty Product Showdown- Gel Eye Liner

Today's Beauty Product showdown is looking at two different gel eye liners.

IMG_2141
I wanted to compare a drug store brand ($6.94) vs. a designer brand ($20) to see which gel liner was better in my eyes. So let the battle begin!

Presentation1

IMG_2315
Our challenger is Maybelline Eye Studio which is smudge proof and waterproof. It has an oil-free formula and gives a high concentrated pigment that can be applied using an angled brush.

IMG_2313
Our defending champion or at least what I heard about is Stila Smudge pot. It can be used as eyeliner or to achieve the smokey look. When used with an angled brush, the gel which is soft and pliable will come off with perfection to achieve your desired look.

IMG_2319
In a smaller container, the Maybelline Eye Studio for me felt more softer and pliable when I got my angled brush and just swiped it along the top.

IMG_2317
When I used the Stila Smoked pot which was bigger, I found the liner wasn't quite as smooth as the Maybelline one.

IMG_2321
I swiped the brush 3 times with each liner and drew an S for Stila and M for Maybelline. Comparing the two you see the Stila liner didn't come off as uniform nor pigmented as the Maybelline. I found myself having to keep applying a few layers to get my desired look with the Stila one than I did with Maybelline which was darker and evener when drawing my letter M.

I also did one swipe across each liner. Again, you can see the difference in how each liner gives in pigmentation.

With regards to longevity, both liners lasted all day. Neither really came off until I removed them with a makeup remover.

So based on my careful review of each gel eye liner the winner hands down is......

800getty_zoushiming[1]

Maybelline Eye Studio
IMG_2315
Even though it came in a smaller container, I felt it was easier to apply, the pigmentation was much more darker and its more affordable. Even though the bottle is alot smaller when you look at the prices if you were to buy 3 of the Maybelline liners it would be equivalent to the size of the Stila Smudge pot.

Drug Store brands =1
Designer Brands = 0

Stila In the Moment Palette

Finally I saved up enough BB points to get a full size palette free!

IMG_2088
The palette I chose was the Stila in the moment.

IMG_2091
This palette comes with a variation of purples and natural colors.

IMG_2092
The top three shadows are: Instinct, impulse and glance.
The bottome shadows are: desire, wonder and spontaneous.
IMG_2098
Swatches go up and down:
Instinct is a shimmery white shadow that can be used for highlighting under the eyebrows
Desire is a peachy/nude color that would be perfect for the entire lid, or underneath the eyebrow
Impulse is a light purple color that could be used as a
base color for the lid
Wonder is a peachy/pink shimmery color. It is gorgeous lid color.
Glance is a shimmery plum color! You can use it for the crease or the lid
Spontaneous is a light brown shimmery color for the lid or crease.

IMG_2093
The darker colors in the palette are improvise, catalyst, whim and captivate

IMG_2095
All these colors will go perfect for a smokey look!

Improvise is a shimmery deep plum color
Whim is a smoked orange/brown color
Catalyst is a black shimmery color
Captivate is a maroon/brown color with a hint of shimmer

Overall, when used with a primer, these shadows will last for a long time! The pigmentation on each color is amazing! I only swiped my finger once for each swatch. I love the fact that the palette includes both dark and natural colors to combine to get some good looks!
