Make Up For Ever HD Powder

I suffer from oily skin and theres nothing I hate more than a greasy forehead! Yuk! I try to wipe my face down with those blotch papers but sometimes I forget so I wanted to try and find another solution to my problem. A lot of people told me about the HD powder from Make Up For Ever so I jumped on the chance to review it when I went to the Makeup Bag Remix event here in Dallas

This translucent powder could be worn over over foundation of alone and is supposed to mattify your skin and make it shine-free while giving your face a flawless look.

IMG_3563
One thing I did not like about the packaging was the fact that there was no way to close it. I usually like those circle things where you can rotate it to open it. But the HD powder did not come with one. Tried to put a piece of tape on it but it was a fail and everytime I close it I lose some and it makes a mess. One thing they should do is change the packaging for sure.

IMG_3564
I swatched it to show you how it looks. Kind of like baby powder. A little definitely goes a long way here. You don't need much at all.

IMG_3565
This stuff is very powdery so apply only a little bit. I tried with on top of foundation and by itself. While it def helps with the oil and coverage lasts for a fairly long time I felt like my face was very cakey when I applied it over foundation. But when I applied it alone it didn't look as bad. Now I know that is not good for people with blotches and etc. I did put it over mineral foundation so maybe if it is applied with liquid foundation it won't look quite as bad.

Overall, since I don't really need the coverage I def will be using this for days I don't feel like having shiny days. I probably won't wear it with foundation and prob wouldn't buy another bottle if they don't fix it and have something to close it bc so much falls out every time I open or close it so I am wasting it.

Beauty Product Showdown Thursday- Blush

Happy Thursday all! Can you believe the weekend is almost here! I can't wait!!! Today's beauty product showdown and I thought it would be good to compare a drug store beauty brand vs a more expensive designer brand in Blush Showdown!

So let's get started!

IMG_3320
The contender is the Stick Blush ($6) by NYX Cosmetics

vs.....

IMG_3322
Make Up For Ever's HD Blush in #6 ($26)

IMG_3325
The HD blush comes in a lotion like bottle and the NYX blush comes in a stick (apologies this picture has them reversed)

IMG_3323
To use the NYX stick blush you simply draw a line across your cheek bone and then blend it in. It has good pigmentation and you can either add more color to it or blend it in more to make it lighter. But, while the color is great at first by the end of the day you don't have much left.

For the HD Blush, you squeeze a button size amount onto your arm and I like to make little dots across my face. The texture is super creamy so its really easy to blend. Do NOT add alot because this blush is extremely pigmented!!! A little goes a long way for this! You def get really good coverage as well.

After testing and comparing this products for over a week hands down

the winner is..

Make Up For Ever HD Blush

Although the NYX is more affordable I would def splurge to get the HD cream bc it has amazing pigmentation, lasts for a long time and overall I love the consistency of it! My sister even tried it out the other day when I was home and raved about it! You know she wished I would ACCIDENTLY have left it there when I left! I really wanted to like the NYX bc its a really cool package and convenient but I just didn't like that longeivity of the product. But def if your on a budget just re-touch it up often!

Make Up for Ever Camoflauge Palette

Dark spots? Blemishes? Acne? Looking for a new cream concealer? Check out the 5-Cream Camoflauge palette I got to review from Make Up For Ever.

There are 5 different palettes offered by Make Up For Ever including one for: European skin, Asian skin, Mixed Skin, black Skin and a Professional make up artist one with 5 main corrective shades.

IMG_3130
I chose the palette for black skin because I felt the colors were closest to mine.

IMG_3131
As you can see the colors start off light to the left and as you work your way to the right they go to medium brown

IMG_3132
Then towards the end you get darker brown.

IMG_3108
As you can see this palette has a variety of brown shades. Think your somewhere in the middle of any of these two shades? No problem!

IMG_3111
Simply mix around browns to achieve your skin tone. Or the makeup artist mixed all the colors together and got a really good brown color for me!

Overall, coverage is well! Covered my nose with the nasty little blackheads and under eyes lol! I look so sleepy now a days! And its matte and doesn't leave you shiny! Def in my makeup bag now and using it daily!

Price $38

Flash Color Palette

Remember when I took part in the Make Up For Ever Bag remix event? Well I got a few Make Up For Ever products to try out! One of these products was something I heard a lot about, the Flash Color Palette!

IMG_3133
Consisting of 12 different colors, these palette contains creamy extremely highly pigmented colors. I swatched each color for you! You can either get a flat makeup brush or apply colors directly with your fingertips.

IMG_3134
The first 6 colors on the left hand side of the palette. Brown, light green and royal blue followed by black, tellow and pink

IMG_3104d
Instead of using my fingertips I used a flat brush to swatch colors. As you can see the colors are super pigmented.

IMG_3107c
Here is the black, yellow and pink colors! I usually don't like yellow but its nice!

IMG_3138
On the right hand side is red, white, silver, light blue-green, peach and gold

IMG_3104
The red is super rich and would make an amazing lip color, the white would make a nice base for all the colors. silver would make a nice color for the base

IMG_3107
The light blue-green and peach color are amazing spring colors! The silver also would be nice around the eyelid.

So what can you do with this palette you ask?

IMG_3103
Well you could apply colors directly to the eye to creat a look. But honestly it was hard to creat a uniform look so I don't recommend that

IMG_3008
Instead use the colors as a base will allow each color to really pop. Here I used #75, yellow 2, #92 and #18 on top of the creamy colors in the Flash Palette. Def makes a difference huh?

IMG_3055
So what other things can you do with this palette? Well you can create lip gloss looks and blush looks with it. To create my look I used the peach and gold color and mixed them!

IMG_3056
Blend until you get the consistency you want! Then you can either use it as a blush or in this case a lip gloss.

IMG_3059
I simply brushed the mixed peachy-gold glitter color on my lips to give me shimmer and color.

IMG_3067
Then I took a clear lip gloss and tada! Homemade lip gloss! Pretty neat huh?

Overall, this palette is amazing! Not only can you make some sweet looks with it but you can use it for more than one thing! Can't wait to play around with it more to create even more cool looks with it!
