How to Apply Sally Hansen Nail Polish Strips

Nail Polish Strips are everywhere. But how do you apply these bad boys? Your in luck bc today I am showing you how to apply some Nail Polish Strips by Sally Hansen.

This nail polish strip is called Red-y to Rock from Sally Hansen's limited addition Rock of Ages collection.

Each box comes with 16 nail polish strips to choose from.

Try and lay the polish strips over nails to pick which one would be perfect for each nail. Once you find the right one all you do is peel off the sticker on both sides.

Press the sticker on the nail. Make sure you get it do it slowly as you have to get it right the first time. And if you don't now worries you have extra polish strips included. You want the nail polish strip to overlay toward your finger tip.

Next, you file the nail polish stip off by getting as close to your real nail as possible.

If you filed it correctly you should be able to rip it right off. If not, no worries just file it more until it tears off.

Then to make it last longer, I like to add a top coat to it. That way you have the shine like normal nails and they stay longer.

Overall, I was surprisingly impressed with how well they look. Honestly you couldn't tell that they were fake on me. Which means I did a really good job! Yay! Plus they lasted a whole week and I took them off which is awesome! This is so perfect for that last minute manicure while your on the train or car and makes it look like you spent a heck of a lot of time on! Love it!

Galaxy Nail Tutorial

I have been seeing the Galaxy Nails a lot so I decided to give it a try! Here is a quick tutorial of how to achieve this look. All you need is a Black, white, neon yellow, pink, dark blue, and a glitter polish.

The first thing you do is paint your nails with a black color.

Tear off a piece of a cosmetic sponge and with tweezers slowly sponge on a white area across your nails.

Next sponge on the yellow over the white followed by the pink color.

Finally, sponge on the blue ( I did it too thick) thinly on each side of your aurora. Clean it up at this point as you will no longer be sponging any more colors. Not bad for doing this one handed (Took this after my hand surgery on my dominant side)

Using a dotting tool or toothpick make little white dot everywhere to represent stars. Then apply a glitter coat on top to make it represent the galaxy even more.

Now my camera somehow deleted the final product which stinks so I unfortunately don't have a final shot. I did go look for another shot of this design similar to what mine looked like.

This last picture is not my own. It is from http://www.susyincolor.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/GalaxyNails.jpg. The dots on mine were a lot smaller but this looks very similar to my final product.

If you try to recreate your own version of Galaxy Nails I would love to see it! Post pictures on my wall!  This tutorial is super easy! So try it yourself!!!!

How to Put on Gel Eyeliner

I don't know about you guys but I seriously suck at putting liquid eyeliner. The brush is so thin, the liner comes off so easily and I just shake a little too much for it. Epic Fail! I instead use gel liner. It's not as wet as liquid liner so it won't smear everywhere and I just find it easier to apply. Want to learn how to apply gel liner? Trust me it is soooooo easy.

All you need to apply gel liner is the liner (Jade) and an angled brush.

If this is your first time practice how to use your angled brush. Gently swipe the brush in the liner and literally draw a line on your arm. It takes a bit but once you got it you got it! Just imagine you have a pencil and you want to draw a straight line. Just swipe across and wah lah!

I recommend applying all your eye makeup first before applying liner. Sorry I forgot to take the picture before the liner.

Starting from the inner eyelid take your angled brush and like you just did on your arm gently swipe it across your eyelid. Don't worry your NOT going to get it perfect in one swipe. You will have to go back and draw on the parts you missed.  And if you should make a mistake don't scream just moisten a Q-tip and remove it that easy!

Practice makes perfect and look at the right middle area it isn't perfect guess I shouldn't have done it quickly and my liner is getting a bit dry but it looks good enough! Once you do it enough times you will be pro and do it fast. But I think it is easier than liquid, doesn't smear and looks just as nice.

Price: Varies (gel liner and angled brush)
Where to buy: any department store or makeup store

Organizing You Makeup Brushes

I haven't done an organization tutorial in a while. I love organizing my stuff bc it makes them easier to find and it just looks movely. Today I am going to show you how to organize your makeup brushes into little glass vases. This is the perfect way to separate your brushes into what their used for ie. all over brushes, angled brushes, face brushes, and lip brushes. That way the next time you want to find that blush brush you just have to look in your face brush vase and their it is!

All you need to do is go get a vase. I got this one at the dollar store. I bought 5 to separate all the diff types of brushes I have. Then I went to Michael's and got these beads. The one's you normally put in glass vases. Two bags were enough to fill all my vases and I bought them at two diff times so I could use the normal 40% coupon Michael's normally have.

Then I just stuck all my brushes in based on their use. Here is my all over eyeshadow brushes. They look nice and are so much easier to find on my desk.

Price: vase ($1) and beads ($2 w/coupon)
Where to buy: any crafts store

How to Apply False EyeLashes

Have you ever wanted to put on false lashes but don't know how to do it. Here is my quick tutorial with plenty of pictures to teach you how.

I just grabbed some lashes I had (started a collection). These are called Gold Digger. Oh yeah!

Any how here is what they look like. Cute right!

Here is how you tell which lash is for which eye. If you notice to the left end of the lashes are shorter than the right. The shorter ends go toward the inner eyelid. That means that this will go on my right eyelid when I look in the mirror. Left to you if your looking at me.

First thing to go is remove the excess glue off the lashes. See it at the bottom of the lashes?

I then like to bend my eyelashes to get it to more of a natural eye shape. I literally just move it back and forth like this.

Make sure you have your make on before you put your lashes on. Its so much easier.

Put your eyelash glue entirely across the attachment area. As you can see it come on really light on the left side so I would put a little more there. Don't worry if its a little thick like the right side the glue fades as it dries on your eyes. Let the glue sit for 30 sec then get ready to attach it to your eyelid.

This came with one my my lashes I got and you can use this to apply eyelashes or just use your fingers.

Place the eyelash as close as you can to your eyelashes.

Press on each part of the eyelash to ensure proper adhesion and hold it down on your like 15 secs.

This is how it should look if you put it properly. If not, don't worry take it off, remove the glue and start all over.

And that's how you put on false eyelashes. Practice makes perfect so don't worry if you can't do it easily the first time.

Hope you enjoyed it!

Any comments/suggestions are appreciated.

Cute Blob Nail Design

Want this Spring Blob design. It is actually extremely simple to do.

All you need for this simple nail design is a dotting tool/toothpick and nail polish

Using the large dotting tool, drop a large circular blob like the one above. Make sure that your blob is rather thick as you will create the outward lines with the polish in this blob. You can add a second blob to make sure it's thick enough

Using your smaller dotting tool or toothpick, stick the tool into the circle and slowly drag out a line.

Do this to a couple of times starting at the base of the circle and drag each away from the circle. It doesn't have to be a start shape this is only an example. You can also pull out as many lines as you would like.

To add more to the design you can add tiny dots surrounding your blob that you created. Since these are pretty thick make sure you give the polish sufficient time to dry completely. I waited about 15 min before I put a top coat on.

This tutorial is just to show you how to do the one I created on my nails. You certainly can create your own shape/design I just wanted to provide a simple guideline for how to start. If you do create this I would love to see pictures!!

Another thing to note is I found it easier to do one color at a time. For example if you do the purple blob on your thumb do the purple blog on all your nails before starting the next color. Trust me you will save time from wiping down your dotting tool and doing the next color on each nail.

Organizing My Mac Shadows

Call it spring cleaning if you may but I get tired of having to search through all my mac shadows I've gotten to find the color I'm looking for (I have 65 mac shadows). I'm an organized freak so I decided enough is enough and decided to depot of my shadows and replate them in palettes. I'm also super color anal so of course I put them in palettes based on there colors. That way if I want a dark green but can't remember the name I will just open my green palette. I even tried to put the colors from darker shade to lighter lol. Mac sells palettes for $16 (15-wells) and that was just to much for me so I ordered them from my new favorite makeup spot, Coastal Scents. Here is how I depoted my shadows.

Step - Right where you open your shadow there is a little slit. (Wish I would have taken a picture of that) I stuck a knife or you can put your fingernail but I just painted mine in between there and separate the case from the top portion containing the shadow as seen below.

Step 2- Next you will using a hair straightener melt the glue that holds the eyeshadow pot to the black holder. I put my straightener to 300. You can also put your shadow on a piece of foil on the straightener as well. I watched the shadow very carefully as I didn't want to melt the holder. When I started seeing a thin space between the pot and holder or when I seen that the pot lifted off a bit I knew it was ready. You have to make sure its ready bc if you don't you can potentially break your eye shadow as your prying it out.

Notice the space you can see in this example between the shadow and pot. It should look like this. I then took a knife and slowly wiggled the shadow until it came out.

I then lifted the pot out with my knife without touching it (extremely hot). I haven't done the last step but I am going to super glue the bottom so it will stay in place or what others have done is get magnet paper that is at any Office Max/Depot and attach it to the bottom of the pot so it will stick to the palette.

Here how the final product looks and I did this for all my shadows. You can see the the bottom green on the second row what happens when you try to take the pot out when the glue isn't completely melted. Once you try it a couple of times you will get the hang of it.

Palette- $5.95 (12-well)
Where to find them: Coastalscents.com

And now that I have 65 empty cases I will be taking them for the Back to Mac promotion and get 10 new shadows, lipsticks or glosses. Can't wait! Decided to be nice and let my baby sister pick 5 things since her Bday is in April.

How to make flowers on your nails

Making flowers on your nail is so easy. Here is a quick tutorial on how I make my flowers.

Drop some nail polish on a cardboard surface. Nothing absorbant or else it will take your polish with it.

I dip my dotting tool or toothpick into the polish puddle and then press 5 circles in a pentagon like shape

After giving your polish pentagon about 1 minute to get tacky I take a toothpick and drag some polish from the center of each circle to the center of the pentagon. Make sure you wipe your toothpick down so you don't get chunks of polish all around your flower.

You can then drop a polish or glitter and dip it in the middle of each flower. Let them dry for about 5 minutes then add a top coat.

And you got yourself a spring mani.
