Coastal Scents Blush Palette

I just got in this perfect Blush palette from Coastal Scents. There are 10 different colors in this palette. So far I have tried the bright pink and peachy color on the first row far right. I didn't think those two would look good on me because I am tan but let me tell you they look amazing! Love that their are so many shades of pink, brown, and peachy colors. So many to try and see what or which one best suit the look your going for. And best of all its super cheap. I've bought a single blush for the same price I got this palette. Can't wait to try all the different colors!

Organizing My Mac Shadows

Call it spring cleaning if you may but I get tired of having to search through all my mac shadows I've gotten to find the color I'm looking for (I have 65 mac shadows). I'm an organized freak so I decided enough is enough and decided to depot of my shadows and replate them in palettes. I'm also super color anal so of course I put them in palettes based on there colors. That way if I want a dark green but can't remember the name I will just open my green palette. I even tried to put the colors from darker shade to lighter lol. Mac sells palettes for $16 (15-wells) and that was just to much for me so I ordered them from my new favorite makeup spot, Coastal Scents. Here is how I depoted my shadows.

Step - Right where you open your shadow there is a little slit. (Wish I would have taken a picture of that) I stuck a knife or you can put your fingernail but I just painted mine in between there and separate the case from the top portion containing the shadow as seen below.

Step 2- Next you will using a hair straightener melt the glue that holds the eyeshadow pot to the black holder. I put my straightener to 300. You can also put your shadow on a piece of foil on the straightener as well. I watched the shadow very carefully as I didn't want to melt the holder. When I started seeing a thin space between the pot and holder or when I seen that the pot lifted off a bit I knew it was ready. You have to make sure its ready bc if you don't you can potentially break your eye shadow as your prying it out.

Notice the space you can see in this example between the shadow and pot. It should look like this. I then took a knife and slowly wiggled the shadow until it came out.

I then lifted the pot out with my knife without touching it (extremely hot). I haven't done the last step but I am going to super glue the bottom so it will stay in place or what others have done is get magnet paper that is at any Office Max/Depot and attach it to the bottom of the pot so it will stick to the palette.

Here how the final product looks and I did this for all my shadows. You can see the the bottom green on the second row what happens when you try to take the pot out when the glue isn't completely melted. Once you try it a couple of times you will get the hang of it.

Palette- $5.95 (12-well)
Where to find them: Coastalscents.com

And now that I have 65 empty cases I will be taking them for the Back to Mac promotion and get 10 new shadows, lipsticks or glosses. Can't wait! Decided to be nice and let my baby sister pick 5 things since her Bday is in April.

GlitterDaze Simply Spring Collection Swatches

This is my first swatch so I apologize in advance for how horrible they looks. Promise as I practice they will look better. Also I put 2 coats on my first swatch and realized it was still slightly opaque so I used 3 coats for the remainder colors. This is the Simply Spring Collection for GlitterDaze on Etsy. The collection consists of 5 colors: Flirtini, Sex on the Beach, April Rain, Minty Mojito, and Parfait Amour.

Flirtini is a pastel pink polish which is gorgeous. It contains different glitter colors including: pink, blue, silver, and purple. I wish I would have put another coat bc as you can see it is still a bit opaque. Pink is by far my favorite color and this polish so this polish is beautiful.

The next color in this collection is Sex on the Beach. This orange/gold color contains pink and gold glitters in it. I'm not a big fan of orange but this color is can def wear this one.

The 3rd color in this collection is April Rain. This is a like turquoise but a sea turquoise if that makes sense lol...and contains different shades of blue/green glitter in it. Kind of like a mermaid kind of color.

The fourth color and my favorite is Minty Mojito. It's a pastel green with different varities of gold and green glitter. It's so bright and so pretty. I was scared bc I'm tan how it would look but it is so gorgeous.

The final color in this collection is Parfait Amour. This is pastel purple with different shades of silver, gold, and pink glitter.

Overall I am satisfied with my first Etsy order. I got mini's of this collection as I have never bought polishes before and was a little scared I might not like them. These colors are so pastel and packed with glitter. Can't wait to get my next paycheck and get some other polishes I saw a pink, coral, and redish color with mine name on it!

Price: $8.50 (12.5) or $4.50 (5 ml)

Daily/Weekly Cleaning of You Makeup Brushes

Don't forget to wash your makeup brushes at least once a week. Because as a Biologist I know that bacteria can get on your brushes if they are not cleaned properly and just imagine what your putting on your eyes. Yuck! I usually spray my brushes down after I use them with Sephora's Daily Makeup Brush Cleaner. Just a quick few sprays and wipe your brush on a paper towel. Then every weekend I will wash my brushes with makeup brush shampoo (not pictured) but also from Sephora. I just moisten my brushes, drop a dime size of shampoo and swirl each brush in it, rinse the shampoo out, and then let each brush dry at an angle on a paper towel.

Doing this will ensure that no bacteria other foreign materials will inhabit on your brushes and thus have the potential to be in contact with your eye area. It also removes traces of the shadows you used so the next time you use it you will get that pink color you want and not a mixture of the pink and the purple you used yesterday.

Battle of the Drug Store Mascara's

Well now that I seen so many people say Cover girl Lash blast is their favorite mascara I'm going to have to go get it and try it out. We have CG Volume exact, Maybelline-the colossal volume express. Loreal Telescopic Explostion, Revlon Grow Luscious plumping Mascara, Neutrogena Healthy Lengths and Almay Intense I-color.

I scored each on a level of 1-10 with 10 being the best.

I love my mascara to length, add intense volume and be dark black

CG Volume Exact- This one wasn't thick enough or black enough for me. It also didn't lengthen well. Score-2

Maybelline Colosal Volume Express- This mascara also did not add volume or length well enough for me. Found myself trying to put lots of coats just to achieve the results I wanted. Score-2

Loreal Telescopic Explosion- Great volume/thickness of mascara, added great length to my lashes and was a dark rich black color. The only negative thing is the bristles on the brush were thin so they didn't gather enough mascara and I had to reinsert it in the container a couple of times to get more mascara. But the small brush made it easier to be more precise to whatever lashes you were on instead of working on the ones towards your inner line while accidently leaving clumps on your outer eye which you see sometimes in full brushes. Score-8

Revlon-Grow Luscious Mascara-Accidently got this is dark brown. Ew! The volume and lengthening was okay. Didn't love it but didn't hate it. Score-5

Neutrogena Healthy Lengths- Awesome mascara! Great Volumining, nice long lashes, and perfect dark color to add intensity to my lashes. Score 9.5

Almay Intense i-color- This mascara was free when I got an Intense I-color so I thought it probably stinks. But its actually really good making my lashes nice and dark, thick and long. Works great! Score-9

Maybelline's Baby Lips

While I was at the store getting the new 24 hour Color Tattoo thought I would give the baby lips a try. I got the Peach Kiss one. I was hoping it wouldn't be too pinky and that it would be a more natural color. This color looks amazing on tanned people and I know it will look good on fair skinned as well.

I know its really hard to see here on my arm. It has just a hint of shimmer in it. Which is great because I dislike really glittery lip glosses. It also feels light, just enough to keep your lips from being dry. I also hate thick gooey glosses that your hair sticks to on windy days. No wonder so many people like these.

Here's a better view of the color on my inner arm. Isn't it beautiful? I can't wait to go out and try the other colors they have.

Price:$3.99
Where to find: any department store: CVS, Walmart, Walgreens or Target.

Maybelline 24 hour Color Tattoo Eyeshadow

They finally started selling this Maybelline Color Tattoo at my local Target so I had to give it a try. I was nervous at first bc all the people I've seen on the ads were light skinned and blue eyes so I was hoping it would look okay on brown skinned/brown eyed people too. I bought the Painted purple one to try.

It is so creamy, I took a flat makeup brush and pressed it on my eyes. As you can see on the lower picture. A negative drawback is that it will be hard to make one uniform layer of eyeshadow. The color is so gorgeous and bright.

I tried to get a picture of me with it but everytime I always smile my eyelids don't show. I would take a picture of me with a straight face but I look lame! Lol!

Honestly this picture doesn't even justify how beautiful of a color this is. And it stayed all day long!! Seriously. Im ready to go out and buy the turquoise and blue color they look so pretty too!

Price: $5.99

The Perfect Primer for Smokey Eye Shadow Colors

Now I'm usually a big fan or Urban Decay Primer but I noticed it doesn't bring out my black smokey eye shadow out that great.

Then I got this Becca Eye Tint sample in Pewter from my March BeautyBox Five box. I thought it was going to be a light color tint until I put a little on my hand to test it out. I was like what the..lol..A primer for dark colors? No way. So I added this primer on my lids and put a black shadow from my Smokey eye palette. OMG it was so dark and pigmented.

And the best part. My black shadow stayed really well all day long. I was in shock and impressed. I even tried it with a bright lime green color had and it made my green look like a smokey green. It was so cool. I will def by ordering this eye tint when I run out. First one of its kind for me. I have only seen light color primers.

Price: $24 for 0.24 fl oz

How I turned my Computer desk into a Makeup Desk

My bf and I are both college students. So that means were broke lol. I can't afford an expensive makeup vanity so I have to settle for the next best thing. This desk if from Office max and was 50% off. So it was only $65. It was my goal to turn it into my makeup headquarters.

I love that it has two mini shelves in the middle which is where I put my sephora OPI mini's and my Art Deco polishes. You probably can tell I am an organized freak and put stuff in order by colors lol. On the top I have a nail shelf that I got at a beauty supply store in San Jose, CA for I believe $15.
Then I lined the shelf with more nail colors. The two open drawers also contain things; The right has a acrylic lipstick holder and all my nail tools: files, clippers, cuticle oil. And the right contains my eyeshadows and palettes.

For the writing desk area (sorry its so messy). I lined it with my perfumes on the left. Some glass vases that I got from the dollar tree that hold my makeup brushes, my brush cleaner/shampoo, my nail polish remover in that bottle like you see at the nail place. And finally a acrylic holder that separates the Q-tips, cotton balls, and makeup pads that I got at the container store.

I didn't have a drawer like all the nice makeup tables had so I did the next best thing and made one. I bought acrylic holders from the container store as well in various sizes: S, M, and L. It's amazing how they all fit in the keyboard holder. When you pull it out, it looks just like a drawer its awesome!

Now that eventually my polish/nail collection will grow but for now I am satisfied with what I have. I also got a little painting for a red high heel that I will hang above the desk.

So see, even college students can make turn a desk into an awesome makeup area.

Prices: Lip stick holder-$9.99
3 door acrylic separater-$12.99
Stackable trays-2.99 to 4.99 (S,M,L)

You can get these at containerstore.com or at any of their locations

You can also get these at Target I heard.

Neutrogena's Healthy Length Mascara

I can't go without Mascara...ever.. I love no, I want mascara that is thick black, and lengthes my eyelashes. Now I know there are some name brand ones that work great but at $20 and up a mascara I wanted to find a cheap one that does the same job. I saw Neutrogena's Healthy Lengths Mascara in the clearance section and target and decided to give it a try. This mascara comes off so thick, doesn't clump my lashes and def lengthens them. It's awesome!

Check out how long my lashes got with my eyes closed

And I know I probably look mad here but I wanted to let you see better how the mascara lengthens my lashes.

This mascara gave me all the features I am looking for. And its only $7.99. So I def will be getting a new one once I run out!

You can get this mascara at any department store: Target, CVS, Walgreens.

Simple Sensitive Skin Products

I've have been hearing so many commercials on this new UK product that I had to give it a try.

The first product I bought was the facial wash gel. The gel is light, and doesn't have a strong smell. It really is for delicate skin bc I don't have too much acne, but if my face doesn't like something I will have a breakout. I mostly get little pimples on my upper forehead area. I've notice that as I get older and because I have bangs and work out my forehead is def getting more oily and thus I'm breaking out. However, since I've been washing my face with this every morning I noticed that all my little breakout's have been starting to go away. Yippy!! I think I'm going to have to go get a full-size bottle of this stuff bc it's working pretty good on my face!

The second product I wanted to give a try to was the eye make-up remover. You just put some of this on a cotton ball and gently rub it over your eyes. I don't know if my pigmented eye shadows are too much for it or what but they did not work for me. I found myself having to use like 4-5 diff cotton balls and putting this product on all of them just to get makeup off of one eye. And it didn't even remove everything.

Overall in my opinion it was a hit with the facial cleaners but a miss with the eye make-up remover.

Price: Varies
You can buy it at any department stores: Target, CVS, Walmart and Walgreens

My Favorite Facial Cleansing Wipes

I love wearing either dark or brightly pigmented eyeshadows which don't just come off with any removing wipes. I use to use the MAC but $15 for 30 sheets would get used up quite quickly. I was on a mission to find a cheaper yet good quality facial cleansing wipe.

My first try dirt cheap wipes. I went to try Target's Up & Up wipes which are 10 sheets for $0.99. Please don't ever try these wipes. First of all, the material of these wipes start to come apart. Secondly, for some reason my eyes would burn a little when I wiped it on my eyes. And Lastly, I was literally having to rub the heck out of my eyes to get my makeup off.

The next wipes I tried were the Clean & Clear wipes that I got at my local CVS. OMG! These wipes are amazing. You don't have to wipe hard to get your makeup. Even the dark smokey black eye shadow you had on will come off easily. They have a nice scent to them as well. And most of all they don't irritate my eyes. Overall, I love this wipes and am def going to use these from now on.

Price $7.99 But I stock up when CVS has a B1G1 50% off and I usually have coupons to use as well.
Last time I got 2 packs for $8.00 what a steal! And they have 25 wipes in each pack.

My favorite Eyeliners

I definitely would consider myself an eyeliner snob. I like dark black and dramatic color. I usually only use pencil liner on my bottom eye area. But I want something that won't smudge, last-long and be smokey enough to bring out my eyes. Here is my review on a couple different eyeliner's I was testing. I will score the liners from 1-10 with 10 being the best. Also, I have watery eyes, so I am looking for one that goes on and doesn't come off bc my eyes are watery.
  • Lavera-Kajal Eyeliner in Brown. I am usually not a brown eyeliner person but I gave it a try anyways. This liner went on my eyes so light and I couldn't get it darker despite continually writing it along my eyes. Score- 1
  • Stila Smudgestick watererproof liner in stingray. This liner comes on so dark, so smooth. And last a long time. Love it! Score-9
  • Prestige eyeliner in Granite. Didn't go on my eyes well and what did go on rubbed off fast. Score 1
  • Nyx liner in black. I usually love NYX products but not their liner. Although it comes on a nicely it disappears pretty fast. Score 3.5
  • Sephora nano liner in midnight black. This liner is nice and dark but it's not waterproof and it smudges easily. Score 6
  • Sephora Flashy liner waterproof in Deep black. This eyeliner is nice and dark, its waterproof but not smudge proof so be care not to rub your eyes. It also stays on for quite some time. Score 7.5
So there you have it my two favorite are Stila's and Sephora's waterproof eyeliner. I def want to try the urban decay liner next bc I heard great things about it.

Remember these are my opinions to eyeliners and they might work well for you. I just wanted to let you know whats my favorite!

got 2 be Dry Shampoo

Hate washing your hair everyday? I know I do. But when I don't wash it I notice my hair gets really oily and looks nasty. I heard about Dry Shampoo so decided to give it a try. It's supposed to refreshen your hair without washing it and still maintain good looking hair. All you have to do is hold the can about 8 inches from your hair and spray short bursts into your hair. It looks someone grabbed baby powder and threw it in your hair but don't worry it will go away. Once your done spraying massage the dry shampoo into your hair and then brush it through. That simple.

Like I said before my hair gets really greasy (especially my bangs) if I don't wash it so I was hesitant but I so impressed by this product. My hair smelled good, was still shiny, and most importantly wasn't greasy. I'm going to have to go get me some more of this stuff.

Price $7.99
You can buy this at any store: Target, CVS, Walgreens

**CVS/walgreens tend to have it on sale for $3.99

Also other brands that have dry shampoo but I had a got 2 be $3 off coupon making it only 0.99 so I had to try it.

How to make flowers on your nails

Making flowers on your nail is so easy. Here is a quick tutorial on how I make my flowers.

Drop some nail polish on a cardboard surface. Nothing absorbant or else it will take your polish with it.

I dip my dotting tool or toothpick into the polish puddle and then press 5 circles in a pentagon like shape

After giving your polish pentagon about 1 minute to get tacky I take a toothpick and drag some polish from the center of each circle to the center of the pentagon. Make sure you wipe your toothpick down so you don't get chunks of polish all around your flower.

You can then drop a polish or glitter and dip it in the middle of each flower. Let them dry for about 5 minutes then add a top coat.

And you got yourself a spring mani.

March BeautyBox Five

Here is my Second BeautyBox Five

  • Lavera- Mango Milk Care Treatment. It's a treatment for colored hair to help damaged hair regain strength and shine. I don't dye my hair at the moment so I haven't got to try this product.
  • purlisse-Soy Milk Cleanser and Makeup Remover. I usually use make-up remover pads so I was a little nervous using this on my eye area. Hate it when stuff gets in your eyes and they turn all red and irritated. After taking some serious precaution I slowly wiped this over my purple eyeshadow with gel eyeliner and thick mascara and was amazed it all came off. The cleanser was very light and didn't have a harsh chemical smell. I was very happy with this product and am going to look into buying a full-size when I run out of it. Price: $36 for 5.6 oz. http://www.purlisse.com/
  • Lavera- Kajal Eyeliner in Brown. I would definitely consider myself a eye liner snob. I love black dark and dramatic eyeliner. I was sad when I got it because it was brown but gave it a shot anyways. My lower eyelid is always moist since my eyes are watery so I have to find the one that goes on any eye. Unfortunately this liner didn't make the cut. It didn't go on my eyelid at all. Prce $12.60 http://www.drugstore.com/
  • Becca- Eye Tint in Pewter. Love the name. This is like the Urban decay primer potion. Pewter is like a dark brown color and a perfect primer for the smokey shadows: black, dark brown, grey and blue. I wanted to see what it would do to my bright green MAC shadow I had. It gave it a hint of smokey-ness to it. Haa haa that's probably not a word. Loved it because Urban Decay doesn't have a primer this dark and it works great. Price: $24 http://www.beccacosmetics.com/
  • Freeman-Anti-Stress Mask Dead Sea Minerals. I have already tried this mask before. Love the smell its so fresh like the ocean water smell. Its a beautiful color. And after you remove the mask your face feels so soft. And its cheap! Price $3.99 from any CVS
This month's box is definitely WAY better than last month. I enjoyed 3 of the 5 products and didn't try one yet. If your interested Beautybox Five is $12/month and you can subscribe to the link below.

Jane Be Pure Mineral Gel Eyeliner

I got this eyeliner from Nordstrom rack after begging my brother's girlfriend to tell me where she got her eyeliner. She always has her makeup so perfect but she also does take an hr and half to get ready and most of that is doing her makeup. I've seen the Maybelline gel eyeliner and didn't want to pay $10 for it so I decided to give this Jane eyeliner a try. It comes with a mini angled brush. I never really heard of Jane Products so I thought it was going to stink. Jane has proved me wrong. This liner comes out so smooth, dark black, it doesn't smug on me. I've had the same bottle since November and it hasn't dried out yet and comes on as great as it did when I first got it. Sorry my liner isn't uniform in the above picture but I was in a hurry. I use this eyeliner everyday and absolutely love it. Definitely my favorite!

Price $3.97 (can you believe how cheap it is)
Where you can find it: Any Nordstrom Rack
